I like to use bamboo instead of wood in my designs.
Bamboo is a strong, highly sustainable ,flexible, beautiful and renewable material that grows without the help of fertilizers. The bamboo tree is mature enough to be cut after three years. The trees are processed into the most environmentally sustainable wood on Earth.
In my designs I explore the esthetics. possibilities and characteristics of this material

This coffee table “LOCK” , is build up from pressed layers of flexible bamboo. The shape is formed by the bamboo’s natural bending curve. The layers of bamboo curve through each other and entwine, locking each other in place. Two different color-tones are used: natural and caramel bamboo.

sculptural console-table “GRIP” is made out of solid caramel bamboo.
The bamboo surface is sanded smooth to reveal the materials beautiful details.
A natural oil-finish enhances the caramel color and structure.
